About Botany Bay Ecotours

Botany Bay Ecotours is owned and operated by a local biologist, so our ecotours are crafted to help people enjoy and understand the amazing plants and animals that make the Botany Bay area their home.

Our programs combine cultural history and natural history because they have been inextricably linked since humans first arrived on our Edisto Island coast.

Whether you’re a long-time resident or just visiting for vacation, after a tour with us you’ll come away with a better understanding of this wild area of our coast.

Tours depart from two separate locations, so be sure you check your departure location. Dock Slip D 2 at Edisto Marina OR the Edisto Beach State Park Environmental Learning Center (ELC) dock at Live Oak Landing. Check your tour confirmation to determine which location you need. September and October boat ecotours are opened the week prior, so check back then to book.

Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs and owners!

#1 Tours in Edisto Island on TripAdvisor!

Excellent ACE Basin Tour

Meg was pleasant, informative, very knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable and well suited to touring. The information about the marina, how long the walk was very helpful. We were able to take one of our party that is severely mobility limited and made it work.

Must do activity on Edisto Island!

We had a great time on the tour and it's definitely a must do on Edisto Island. The biodiversity on the island is incredible and absolutely worth seeing from the water. Definitely a dog friendly activity!

Cooking with Marvetta is our newest beach tradition!

Our extended family of 14 enjoyed an amazing meal with Marvetta Hutchinson!! Don't miss the chance to meet her, learn about Gullah culture, and have a delicious meal! We go to Edisto every year and are adding "Cooking with Marvetta" to the list of annual traditions. Thanks Captain Meg and Marvetta for a wonderful experience.

Great beachcomber tour

Loved our beach walk with Catherine she was so informative. Usually you go to the beach pick up a few shells swim in the ocean. We got great context on our beach, sea turtles, area history. I can’t recommend this more
